Young Motherhood in Chelsea, MA
Young Motherhood in Chelsea, MA

From 2007-2008, I was a Lewis Hine Documentary Fellow with Duke University. I worked with 30 young mothers to create a body of work about young motherhood in Chelsea, MA. These are some of my photos taken in their homes.

These are some of the photos taken by the young moms that I worked with in Chelsea, MA. Thanks to the Snap Foundation, I was able to give all of the girls cameras to take pictures at home. I asked them to photograph what their lives are like.

Partners For Surgery
Partners For Surgery

These are photos I took in October 2006 while on a one week medical triage mission into the highlands of Guatemala. I photographed for the non-profit Partner for Surgery (www.partnerforsurgery.org) that is dedicated to identifying candidates for surgery and providing transportation to hospitals for Maya people who live in the highlands.

Maria and Ana
Maria and Ana

I am constantly fascinated by my younger sisters. They were my favorite subjects to photograph when they were 9 and had just been adopted from Russia. They are adults now and are some of my favorite people to spend time with and to photograph.

Erin: After 30 hours
Erin: After 30 hours

These are pictures from 2008 during my sister\'s third year of medical residency at Duke. We were living together and I got in the habit of taking pictures of her when she would come home in the afternoon after thirty hours of work. Crippled with exhaustion she slept anywhere any time of day.
